Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!
For the longest time, our prehistoric ancestors built settlements and civilizations along riverbanks until more recently, when exploration gave way to trade and colonization. Rivers powerfully carve out landscapes while tenderly parting the waters for the stick and paper sailboats of many childhood days; they offer travel and adventure along with the promise to slow down time by simply dipping our toes in. Rivers are beginnings and endings, solitude and community, journey and boundary, all at the same time.
There are countless reasons why many of us find ourselves at the river, either searching for a way to or through it. Whatever has led you to this moment, I’m so glad you’re here at last! Whether you’ve been upended by the currents of something you’ve felt but couldn’t quite see, found yourself off-course and meandering, or simply needed to see the horizon again from a different shore, you are so welcome here. Thank you for stopping by and visiting.
I’m a Registered Social Worker, with over ten years of advocacy and mental health work within all sorts of settings, ranging from education and child welfare to healthcare and law enforcement. I’ve seen my fair share of river-crossings as my personal and professional journeys have crisscrossed over time – it’s why I feel drawn to work primarily from trauma-focused, embodied and attachment-focused frameworks. And while my ways of being in and seeing this world are likely different from yours, I’m deeply committed to creating a space where you don’t need to have all the answers, and where you can be your full self. My hope is to meet you wherever you are on your journey and sit in the uncertainty of things with you. Together, we’ll get our bearings and consider what the river’s revealing to you and where and who it’s calling you to be.
Please explore the other sections of this website, where I describe my approach and what being in a session with me might entail. A safe and trusting connection with your therapist is perhaps one of the best predictors of how effective and meaningful you may find therapy, which is after all, a deeply personal and sensitive experience. I encourage you to take the time to consider what you’re looking for in a therapist – if you’d like to know more or wish to book a session, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
So glad you’re here,
Karishma
